Revive Trainers
Meg Surmon
Founder of Revive Personal Training
Principal Trainer and Sporting Spirit Run Coach
I have about 9 years experience in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and a gymie. At about the age of 15 I became a gym junkie and had grand plans to compete as a body builder but alas it never happened. I guess my frame just never bulked up enough. That doesn't mean I lost my love of the gym! I kept training and maintained what I had. After a time lost in the wilderness of an office job I returned to what I loved most and went back to the gym but this time as a fitness professional. I worked in body building gyms and learned a huge amount from my boss at the time who I will be forever grateful to. I participated for a short stint in triathlons (swimming was the end of it for me). Soon after I turned to martial arts and in 2009 I achieved Black Belt status. As a result of my dabbling in triathlons I have developed a passion for running which has seen the growth of the Revive Super Stars run team and two half marathons in 2009 (with my fab running partner Meg C).
Education has always been a really important part of my professional development and it became clear very early in my PT career that the current education offered to fitness professionals was inadequate, so I have spent many years furthering my understanding of physiology and the anatomy of movement. There is so much more to know that the task is both exciting and daunting. I am looking at furthering my fitness education with more study in running mechanics and weight training. Health and fitness is not just something I do for looks or when I have spare time; it is something I live and breathe because it gives me physical strength and I need this body for many many years to come. I gain spirit from tackling the things that stand in the way of me being the strongest and fittest person I can be. Inaction is the death of self esteem and the beginning of physical decay!
