Our Style

The fitness industry has a long history. From the early days of the physical culturalists to the strong men like Sandow, to nudists who embraced healthy living by enjoying what nature had given them, to the weights rooms and calithentics classes full of baton twirling women. The body building culture of the 50's through to the present is also a big part of this industry. Now big gyms cater to sedentary lifestyle folk and personal training has begun to fill the gap for those who know they need to exercise but are not sure where to start and don't want to waste time getting it wrong.

Revive Personal Training takes its lead from the physical culturalists of the early days of the fitness industry. Fitness and health was about being the best person you could be and it was believed that training hard had positive effects on morals, self esteem, health and the community. There is a very ancient idea here that can traced back to the Greeks and the development of the first Olympic games and it can be found amongst the writings of the founders of many martial arts.

Essentially Master Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido captured it when he wrote that "the purpose of training is to tighten up the slack, toughen the body, and polish the spirit".

We do not use ancient training techniques at Revive Personal Training however; in fact we use only the latest research and safest methods we know of, we still believe that fitness training has the ability to lighten our spirit and infuse us with wellbeing while tightening those areas we may have neglected.

Like the martial arts; there is a soft and hard aspect to having a healthy body.  There are parts of training that require a hard attitude or a rigid sense of purpose and then there is the part of us that must be yeilding and understanding to the needs of our spirit.

Science works like that for us as trainers also. We base our training on hard evidence, we know what works because we have tried and tested it or sciencetific research has shown it to work; especially in the area of nutrition and fat loss training. But we also understand that we are dealing with people who have good and bad days, who may need more or less support on particular days.

That doesn't mean we are going to let anyone off the hook! If you have a goal and you have the spirit to reach that goal - THEN WE WILL GET YOU THERE!
